Dutch Lower-League Match Abandoned After Tunnel Fight Leaves Player Without Three Teeth

A Dutch lower-league match between IJsselmeervogels and GVVV was abandoned at half-time after a fight in the players’ tunnel left defender Quiermo Dumay missing three teeth. Dumay, 25, was reportedly struck as both teams headed to their dressing rooms. He left the stadium in a blood-stained shirt and later filed a police report. The incident was particularly tense because Dumay was facing his former club, GVVV. Security officers and police sealed off the tunnel and kept rival supporters apart while officials called off the match. GVVV chairman Hans Schinkel said an investigation was under way but added that he did not yet know who was responsible for the assault.
