Boko Haram Attack on Pissa Village: Homes Torched, Civilians Abducted
An armed group believed to be a Boko Haram splinter faction stormed Pissa in Borgu Local Government, Niger State, at dawn on Saturday, June 13. They burned dozens of homes, killed residents and abducted women and children. Locals fleeing the attack shared audio messages saying more than 100 insurgents overwhelmed local vigilantes. The fighters warned that nearby villages like Kabe and Sukumba could face the same fate. Villagers say no soldiers have arrived to protect them. A security source in Wawa explained that the only bridge linking the town to affected villages was destroyed months ago, making road access impossible. Residents say no military aircraft have intervened despite urgent calls for help. The faction led by Mallam Sadiku has carried out several major assaults in the region, including mass kidnappings and deadly raids since last year.
