Lagos Court Convicts Two Women for Illegal Naira Trading

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has convicted two women for unlawful trading and hawking of naira notes. Mutairu Omowunmi Tawa admitted selling ₦850,000 at an event centre in Onikan, while Faith Chukwujeku admitted hawking ₦1.3 million in ₦200 denominations. Both offences occurred on July 25, 2026. Justice A. Aluko sentenced each woman to six months’ imprisonment, with an option of a ₦50,000 fine. The court also ordered the forfeiture of the cash exhibits to the Federal Government.
