Turkish Governor Sacked After Backlash Over Tight Cycling Shorts
A Turkish governor has been removed from office after sparking backlash over the cycling gear he wore in public. Mehmet Fatih Cicekli, governor of Ardahan province in eastern Turkey, was criticised after photos showed him in snug lycra shorts during a cycling event. Although no official reason was given for his dismissal, several politicians argued that the outfit was inappropriate for a governor. Cicekli defended himself, saying he was simply wearing normal sportswear. His supporters have since launched a petition calling for his reinstatement, and the campaign has gathered more than 10,000 signatures.
