The Oyo State Government has declared Monday, October 5, 2026, a work-free day for teachers across the state to mark World Teachers’ Day and Nigeria Union of Teachers Day. The government said the break will allow teachers to take part in activities marking the occasion, reflect on developments in education and strengthen professional unity. World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5. The 2026 edition marks 60 years since the 1966 international recommendation on teachers’ rights, responsibilities and working conditions.
