Nigeria at 66: Turning Our Potential Into Production
At 66, Nigeria has people, land, minerals, agricultural potential and entrepreneurial talent. The challenge is turning these assets into productive industries, decent jobs, affordable healthcare, quality education and better living standards. We must invest in human capital, technical skills, reliable electricity and value-added production. Rather than exporting crude oil, cocoa, minerals and other raw materials, Nigeria should process, package and manufacture more at home. As a pharmacist, I believe pharmaceutical manufacturing deserves urgent attention. Building local capacity for medicines, medical devices and key health products will reduce vulnerability and create jobs. Nigeria must move from potential to production, from raw materials to value, and from growth figures to prosperity that people can genuinely feel.
