Stakeholders from across Ekiti State gathered at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day. The event, organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in partnership with the Office of the First Lady, brought together civil society groups, development partners and government officials. Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, Wife of Ekiti State Governor, emphasised that sustainable growth relies on empowering women. She highlighted the “Give to Gain” campaign slogan and praised President Tinubu’s Year of Families and Social Development initiative. She also outlined key programmes, including AGILE, the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up, and support through the Widows, Aged and Orphans Hope Support Foundation. Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye and former Senate Minority Leader Biodun Olujimi reinforced the need for women’s political mobilisation ahead of the June governorship election. They joined other stakeholders in pledging continued support for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and called for strategic voter outreach to sustain inclusive development.
