Why Are Nigerian Restaurants Abroad So Much More Expensive?

How can Nigerian restaurants abroad compete when many other ethnic and fast-food outlets offer a full meal and drink for less than $10, while Nigerian meals can cost around $30 per plate? In the United States and Canada, customers can find affordable options at fast-food chains and Korean, Indian, Chinese and other restaurants. Many Nigerian restaurants, however, charge far more for similar portions. Are high prices caused by ingredient costs, rent, labour and imports, or are some operators focused too heavily on quick profits? The pricing may be one reason many Nigerian restaurants struggle to attract regular customers.
