Nigerian Troops Free 92 Kidnap Victims and Neutralise IED Ambush in Borno
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai launched a swift rescue along the Buratai–Kamuya road in Biu LGA, Borno. They detected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters moving abducted civilians into the bush and deployed a Quick Reaction Force with reinforcement from 27 Task Force Brigade. The insurgents abandoned 92 captives—52 men, 33 women and seven children—and eight vehicles when troops closed in. Efforts to slow the pursuit failed after EOD teams found and safely neutralised three roadside IEDs. No military casualties were recorded. The rescued civilians received welfare support and were escorted to Damaturu. High command praised the operation as proof of improved surveillance, operational reach and readiness. The theatre command reiterated its resolve to keep up pressure on terrorists and protect civilians across the North East.
