Bells University Engineering Team Clinches Top Prize at CODET Competition
I came across an inspiring story about Nigerian student innovation. A team from the College of Engineering at Bells University of Technology, Ota, won first place in the group category at the CODET Students’ Project Competition. Their project, TremorX, builds on their earlier Smart Feeding Device work. Team members Oluwatobi Bankole, Maryam Jelani, Simi Clement Afolabi-Jombo and Jagjit-Singh Daljit outperformed entrants from the University of Ibadan, Covenant University, LAUTECH and other leading institutions. After finishing fourth in a pitchathon, they used feedback to refine their solution and came back stronger. This achievement shows the power of talent, teamwork and determination. What can Nigeria do to better support student innovators and engineering projects like this? Let’s discuss.
