Seeing the Risen Christ: Jesus Visits His Disciples (Luke 24:36–49)
In Luke 24:36–49, the risen Jesus appears suddenly among his disciples and greets them with “Peace.” Startled, they think they see a ghost. He shows his wounded hands and feet and even eats broiled fish to prove he is truly alive. Jesus reminds them that everything written about him in Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms must be fulfilled. He opens their minds to understand Scripture and explains that the Messiah must suffer, rise on the third day, and usher in repentance and forgiveness for all nations. He commissions the disciples as witnesses of these events and tells them to wait in Jerusalem for the promised power from on high.
