Osun Govt Rebuts ASUU, Says UNIOSUN Is Implementing 2025 Agreement
The Osun State Government has rejected ASUU’s claim that UNIOSUN is failing to meet obligations under the 2025 Federal Government–ASUU agreement. It says the university began implementing the agreement and paying applicable arrears before the Federal Government, describing its omission from ASUU’s commendation as unfair. The government also disputed ASUU’s position on UNIOSUN’s governance, arguing that the institution is regulated by its own establishment law passed by the Osun State House of Assembly, not the federal universities law. It said the amendment affecting the Vice-Chancellor’s tenure followed a lawful legislative process. According to the government, UNIOSUN remains open and stable, with no basis for threats of industrial action. It urged ASUU to engage through facts, applicable law and dialogue while it continues discussions on staff welfare.
