Kano Leads Nigerian States in Education Spending for Q1 2026
Kano recorded the highest education expenditure among Nigerian states in the first quarter of 2026, spending N59.11 billion. Lagos followed with N39.93 billion, while Delta spent N33.34 billion. Oyo, Benue, Abia, Ekiti and Bayelsa also ranked among the states with the highest reported education spending. At the lower end, Imo spent N3.52 billion, Cross River N3.87 billion and Anambra N4.79 billion. Jigawa reported zero education spending during the quarter, while Rivers State was not included in the available data. The figures raise questions about how state governments are prioritising funding for public education.
