Boko Haram Attack in Mandara-Girau Leaves Nine Soldiers Beheaded
Early on Friday, June 5, attackers linked to Boko Haram stormed a military formation in Mandara-Girau, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State. They opened fire on troops amid heavy rainfall. According to security sources, the militants arrived in large numbers and caught soldiers off guard. Nine soldiers were killed and several others wounded. The dead were reportedly beheaded. In video footage reviewed by journalists, eight bodies are seen covered with blankets on the ground. The military has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
