Kwara, Ekiti, Akwa Ibom and Oyo announced work-free or teaching-free arrangements for teachers on October 5, 2026, to mark World Teachers’ Day. In Kwara, teachers were given a work-free day. Ekiti asked public-school day students to stay at home so teachers could participate in the celebration. Akwa Ibom closed public primary and secondary schools for the day to allow teachers attend an event in Uyo. Oyo declared a public holiday in recognition of the occasion.
