The Gate of Patience: Why You Should Not Rush Major Decisions

Haste can lead to avoidable trouble in relationships, finances, work, business, and even in the words we speak. There is a difference between being prompt and being hasty. Promptness responds wisely to genuine urgency, while haste acts without enough thought, prayer, counsel, or understanding. Scripture encourages believers to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger. Before making a major decision, pause to pray, examine the facts, seek wise counsel, and consider the long-term consequences. A good opportunity at the wrong time can still become a problem. Patience is not inactivity or endless delay. It is the discipline to wait for wisdom and God’s direction while refusing pressure, fear, greed, or temporary emotions. Do not make permanent decisions during temporary moments. Trust God’s timing, and act promptly when you have clear direction.
