NSCDC Busts 27-Year-Old for Forging NYSC Call-Up and N1.3m Fraud

The FCT Command of NSCDC arrested 27-year-old Joseph Nanmwa Philips for forging an NYSC call-up letter. He posed as a corps member and taught at the International Model Science Academy in Kwali for nearly a year. Investigators say he cloned university email addresses and defrauded seven parents of about N1.3 million with promises of Cambridge University scholarships and extra lessons. NSCDC clarified that the N1.4 million cited online was the refund owed to victims, not a bribe for his release. Philips remains in custody under a valid remand order. Officers recovered an NYSC uniform, the forged letter, and hard drugs. NSCDC urged agencies to stay vigilant, warning that others may exploit fake documents. They also dismissed claims of extortion and unlawful detention as baseless.
