Abia Government Says No Plans to Ban Keke Operations
The Abia State Government has denied reports that it plans to ban commercial tricycles, popularly called Keke, across the state. The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, said the government is instead working to streamline the operations of commercial vehicles and tricycles. The aim is to improve sanitation, ease traffic congestion and make transport more efficient, especially in major cities. He noted that the number of Keke operators has risen after restrictions in neighbouring states, but maintained that a ban is not being considered.
