When Curses Strike at the Roots: A Biblical Insight
In Mark 11:12-20, Jesus curses a barren fig tree, and it withers “from its roots.” This detail reminds us that curses work at the core of our lives before any outward signs appear. Human curses may be lifted by someone with greater spiritual authority, but divine curses can only be reversed by God. Like a branch that stays green before it suddenly yellows and dies, a person under a curse may look fine until the hidden damage shows. Scripture gives other examples: Elisha’s curse on Gehazi in 2 Kings 5:20-27 affected his entire lineage, and in 2 Kings 2:19-22 Elisha neutralizes Jericho’s water curse at its source. These accounts teach us that true healing and deliverance must reach the roots. If you or your family carry a hidden curse, I decree that its roots are now broken and every inherited bond is undone, in Jesus’ name.
