Lere Paimo Says He Began Acting Before Pete Edochie
Veteran Yoruba actor Lere Paimo has responded to Pete Edochie’s call for any actor who began earlier than him to present proof. Speaking in an interview with Kunle Afod, Paimo said he started acting in 1958 and was already active before Edochie began his career. He recalled meeting theatre pioneer Hubert Ogunde during the early years of his own journey. Edochie had pointed to his performance in William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice in 1962 as evidence of the early start of his acting career.
