ADC Aspirant Hayatu-Deen Alleges ‘Ugly and Disturbing’ Malpractices in Primaries
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a 2027 presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress, has raised alarm over alleged irregularities in the party’s ongoing primaries. He described reports from across Nigeria as “ugly and disturbing,” claiming some operatives pressured him to step aside despite his official clearance. Speaking after voting in Borno State, Hayatu-Deen said his local ward vote was peaceful and that supporters pledged massive backing. In contrast, he alleged that in Zaria, Kaduna State, voting had been delayed and members were denied the right to cast their ballots as of late afternoon. He also highlighted irregularities in Southern Borno, where electoral officers reportedly left polling areas before completing result documentation. He warned that these acts were “criminal and fraudulent” and vowed to fight them to the end. Hayatu-Deen urged ADC leaders to investigate the claims swiftly. He stressed that a transparent process is crucial to protect the party’s credibility ahead of the 2027 general election.
