Former Federal Polytechnic Staff Member Seeks Review of Dismissal Over Examination Records
I am a former employee of a federal polytechnic in North-Central Nigeria. I joined through NYSC in 2019, served in different roles and received a permanent appointment in January 2026. My appointment was later terminated after disciplinary proceedings linked to students’ certificates and examination results. I understand the seriousness of protecting academic records, but I believe responsibility should be determined through clear evidence and a fair assessment of every person involved. I am concerned that my written defence and supporting evidence may not have received proper consideration. Another staff member faced related allegations and was also suspended, yet there appeared to be differences in how our suspension and salary matters were handled. I believe the payroll records, suspension terms and relevant regulations should be independently reviewed. I am seeking informed guidance from experienced polytechnic administrators, staff-union representatives and labour-law practitioners on fair disciplinary procedures, possible remedies and credible channels for an independent review. I am not asking anyone to decide the case without evidence; I only want the facts to be examined fairly.
