Social media can make expensive phones, designer clothes, outings, trips and a polished lifestyle seem like basic necessities. The problem is not buying an iPhone or enjoying nice things when you can afford them. The danger begins when people spend beyond their income, take on debt, depend on others, or enter unhealthy arrangements simply to maintain an image of success. This pressure affects both women and men. Some people earn modest salaries but feel compelled to buy items they cannot sustain, live in locations they cannot afford, or spend money meant for savings and personal growth. Looking successful is not the same as becoming financially stable. Before chasing a lifestyle online, it is worth asking: can I truly afford this, or do I only want people to think I can?
