Regina Chukwu Alleges Sex-for-Roles Culture in English Nollywood
Actress Regina Chukwu has alleged that some parts of English-language Nollywood operated a “sex-for-roles” culture when she was trying to start her career in Lagos. Speaking in a recent interview, Chukwu said repeated auditions around Surulere left her discouraged. She alleged that some aspiring actors were lured with fake scripts and pressured into inappropriate relationships in exchange for movie roles. Chukwu, who is of Igbo descent and grew up in South-West Nigeria, said she found the Yoruba film industry more welcoming. She said the support and connections she found there helped her build her acting career.
