Why Christians Call Jesus the Sacrificial Lamb

In the Old Testament, God instructed the Israelites to offer sacrifices as an expression of repentance and atonement for sin. Animals such as sheep and cattle were offered according to the law. This Christian teaching holds that no animal sacrifice could fully restore humanity after the sin of Adam and Eve. Only Christ, the Son of God, could provide the sacrifice powerful enough to reconcile humanity with God. Jesus willingly gave His life on the cross. Through His death and resurrection, believers are promised forgiveness, victory over death, and eternal life through faith in Him. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16
