RCCG Pastor Dies After Collapsing During Funeral Sermon in Rivers

A funeral in Aleto, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, turned into a second moment of mourning after Deacon Steve Eyo reportedly collapsed while preaching. Eyo, the resident pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Aleto, was delivering a sermon titled “The Certainty of Death and Hope Beyond” before more than 300 mourners. Eyewitnesses said he spoke about the unpredictability of death and urged people to prepare for it. About 15 minutes into the sermon, he reportedly collapsed while concluding his message. Some attendees initially thought it was part of his illustration before church members and people with medical knowledge rushed to assist him. He was taken to a nearby medical facility in an ambulance hired for the burial and was later confirmed dead. No medical cause of death has been publicly disclosed.
