Anambra Revives Water Workers’ Salary Arrears Claims in Peter Obi Debt Dispute

The Anambra State Government has released old footage showing former Water Corporation workers protesting unpaid salaries during Peter Obi’s tenure as governor. The workers said they were owed as much as 16 months’ pay, with only five months reportedly settled before Obi left office. Information Commissioner Law Mefor said the arrears led to court cases and judgments. He added that the Soludo administration has reached a settlement with the affected workers and paid the first two of three agreed instalments. The footage has resurfaced amid wider claims about loans, pensions, gratuities and other obligations allegedly inherited from the Obi administration. Obi maintains that he left office without unpaid salaries, pensions, gratuities, suppliers or contractors, while his supporters describe the allegations as politically motivated.
