Diomande Matches Obafemi Martins’ Champions League Record in Real Madrid Win

Real Madrid winger Yan Diomande matched a Champions League feat last achieved by former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins after inspiring a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig. The 19-year-old Ivorian came on in the 70th minute, assisted Kylian Mbappe for Madrid’s third goal and scored the fourth. At 19 years and 11 months, he is the youngest African player to score and assist in a single Champions League match since Martins did so for Inter Milan against Arsenal in 2003. Diomande has now recorded six goal contributions in his last four matches for Madrid. He will look to continue his form when Real Madrid face Barcelona in El Clasico.
