NARD Commends Anambra Over Doctor Assault Response and Resident Doctors’ Welfare
The National Association of Resident Doctors has praised the Anambra State Government for its response to the assault of a resident doctor at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka. The association said the government’s intervention led to an apology and compensation for the affected doctor after the March 4 incident, which occurred during a mass-casualty emergency following an explosion. NARD said stronger security is still needed in critical hospital areas. During a visit to the state, NARD also commended the payment of the Medical Residency Training Fund, implementation of the revised salary structure for resident doctors, and investments in the COOUTH Trauma Centre, departmental accreditation and a proposed Universal Health Centre.
