Pregnant Woman Jailed for Life After Shooting Fellow Expectant Mother

Aaniyah Nowden was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for killing Justina Wallace, a 36-year-old mother of five who was also expecting. The shooting took place in July last year in Birmingham, Alabama. Wallace was holding her toddler when Nowden opened fire, reportedly after an argument involving the children’s father. Prosecutors said Wallace had no weapon and posed no threat. Nowden was convicted of capital murder in Jefferson County. Two related charges were dismissed by the jury. Wallace’s unborn baby did not survive the attack.
