Charles Inojie Says Nollywood Is Prioritising Hype and Looks Over Craft
Veteran actor Charles Inojie has criticised what he sees as Nollywood’s growing focus on appearance, publicity and rapid fame over training and skill. In a resurfaced interview, he said lasting success in acting requires more than passion. According to him, performers need a strong knowledge base and commitment to storytelling. Inojie also faulted media platforms for giving premature “superstar” labels to entertainers whose work, in his view, has not yet earned such recognition. The interview was originally recorded about two years ago and has recently circulated again.
