37 Students and Teacher Still Held After Terror Attack on Lassa Secondary School

37 Students and Teacher Still Held After Terror Attack on Lassa Secondary School

The Borno State Government says 37 people—36 students and one teacher—remain in captivity after Monday’s terrorist raid on Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, in Askira/Uba LGA. The victims were abducted while writing their NECO exams. Some students were rescued by troops soon after the assault. During an assessment visit to Lassa, the Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation led officials to meet community leaders, parents and education stakeholders. Officials confirmed the breakdown of those still held: 25 female students, 11 male students, and one teacher. Eight victims, including the vice principal, have been freed. Security agencies are intensifying efforts to secure the release of everyone still in captivity.
