Tinubu to Lead First Anniversary Memorial for Late President Buhari

Tinubu to Lead First Anniversary Memorial for Late President Buhari — 1 of 3
1 / 3

President Bola Tinubu and political allies will head events marking the first anniversary of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s passing. The ceremony, scheduled for July 13 at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Asokoro, Abuja, will feature interfaith prayers and the launch of a tribute book titled “Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari.” The free book includes messages from global leaders praising Buhari’s simplicity, resilience and integrity. Organizers, led by former SGF Boss Mustapha, say the event will unite family, friends and public figures to reflect on Buhari’s legacy. Selected speakers will share personal memories of his leadership, and religious leaders from various faiths will offer prayers. This inaugural memorial may become a periodic commemoration depending on future plans.

It's interesting that the memorial event includes interfaith prayers, but it could easily become more of a political statement than a genuine tribute.
