Ukraine Says It Targeted Over 200 Russia-Linked Ships in Three Weeks

Ukraine says it has targeted more than 200 vessels linked to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet in a three-week maritime campaign around the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. The operation reportedly focuses on ships carrying oil, grain and other cargo that could support Russia’s war effort. Reports say several vessels were damaged, set ablaze or abandoned. Among them was the Belize-flagged bulk carrier New Victory, formerly called Argyroula, which was reportedly hit by a Ukrainian drone near the Russian port of Taman. The Kerch Strait is a vital route between the Black Sea and Sea of Azov for Russian military logistics and commercial shipping. Ukraine says disrupting traffic there could isolate occupied Crimea and weaken Russia’s ability to fund its military operations. The campaign follows a reported strike on an Iranian cargo vessel in the Caspian Sea. Iran said one sailor was killed and another injured, while Russia condemned the attack.
