ICPC, EFCC and Police Launch Joint Probe into Ojukwu University VC Over Procurement and Finance Breaches

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, is facing investigations by the ICPC, EFCC and Nigeria Police over allegations of procurement violations, financial impropriety and abuse of office. Official letters obtained show the ICPC has issued a final notice demanding key staff records, departmental handbooks and approved results, warning that non-compliance could be an offence under the Corrupt Practices Act. The police Force Intelligence Department is also probing claims of forgery and contract awards to family members. Separately, the EFCC received petitions over alleged racketeering in TETFund projects worth ₦4 billion. Petitions allege split contracts, irregular deductions from research grants and ties to companies linked to the VC’s associates. Neither the university nor Prof. Omenugha has publicly responded as investigations continue.
