DHQ Warns Nigerians After Attempted Hack of Its X Account

Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has warned the public to ignore suspicious posts from its official X account after detecting an unauthorised attempt to compromise it. Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba, said technical measures were immediately activated to secure the account and prevent further access. Cybersecurity personnel are working to restore full control. The DHQ urged Nigerians, media organisations and other stakeholders not to rely on misleading content that may appear on the account while recovery efforts continue. It did not identify those behind the attempted breach or state whether any posts were made. For now, the military advised the public to follow updates through its verified Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms.
