Newlywed and Two Civilians Killed by Stray Bullets as Troops Foil Boko Haram Assault in Maiduguri
In the early hours of July 10, insurgents on motorcycles launched coordinated attacks on military posts at Kofa and Muna in Maiduguri, Borno State. Soldiers swiftly engaged the gunmen, preventing them from breaching the city’s defences. During the clashes, stray bullets struck three residents. A three-week-old bride was hit in her home and died instantly. In a nearby neighbourhood, two more civilians were killed while fleeing the crossfire, and another woman was wounded by a flying projectile. The Joint Task Force North East under Operation HADIN KAI confirmed multiple infiltration attempts between midnight and dawn. Troops repelled the terrorists with precise firepower and are now clearing the area and pursuing the retreating fighters. No casualties were reported among soldiers, and the security situation remains stable.
