Eleven Boko Haram Family Members Surrender to Troops in Borno
Eleven relatives of Boko Haram fighters—five women and six children—have surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State. The defections occurred around 6:00 p.m. on June 24, 2026. Four women and four minors from Chongolo village reported to the 152 Task Force Battalion, while one woman and two children from Ladantar turned themselves in at Banki Junction under the 151 Task Force Battalion. After profiling and documentation, the group was transferred to the Bama IDP Camp for further screening and rehabilitation according to established procedures. Military sources say these surrenders reflect a growing wave of defections as sustained pressure under Operation HADIN KAI weakens insurgent enclaves. Troops remain vigilant as the security situation stays calm but unpredictable.
