Jos Mother Places Cutlass in Late Son’s Coffin, Calls for Vengeance

Mrs Favour Ayuba appeared in a viral video after her son Promise was killed by suspected terrorists in Jos, Plateau State, on Palm Sunday. She admitted she has not eaten since his death and was filmed weeping while holding his body. In the footage, Mrs Ayuba brought out a cutlass wrapped in white cloth and placed it inside her son’s coffin. Through tears, she implored her late child to avenge his death. “If you want me to forget, baby, avenge your death… I trust you to follow them and avenge your death,” she said in Hausa. She also marked what would have been Promise’s birthday by referencing the biblical story of Gideon. “I named you Promise Gideon Ayuba. Gideon went to war and came back victorious,” she added amid sobs. The Palm Sunday attack in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North LGA on March 29 left at least 24 people dead and several others injured.
