US Donates High-Tech Interrogation Suites to NDLEA in Abuja

Nigeria’s anti-drug campaign has received a significant boost with the handover of modern audiovisual interrogation suites to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Abuja. Funded by the US Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and implemented by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the project underscores renewed efforts under Brig Gen Buba Marwa (retd) to strengthen enforcement, increase major seizures, and expand prevention and treatment initiatives. NDLEA’s chairman highlighted that these state-of-the-art facilities will enhance investigative integrity and accelerate the agency’s digital transformation. US support represents more than equipment investment; it signals a shared commitment to a stronger, fairer, and safer Nigeria.

Donations often come with strings attached; we should question whether this support aligns with Nigeria's priorities or serves external interests.

Local technicians need clear maintenance schedules and training modules from day one to ensure these audiovisual suites remain operational over time.
