Finidi George Backs Rivers United to Finish Off San Pedro in Uyo

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George is confident his team can complete the job against San Pedro in the second leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary-round tie. The Nigerian side earned a 1-1 draw in Ivory Coast after Iyowuna Douglas cancelled out Issouf Dosso’s opener. The result gives Rivers United an away goal ahead of the return leg in Uyo on September 13. Finidi said avoiding defeat was the team’s main objective in the first leg. He believes playing at home, alongside lessons learned from the Ivorian side’s approach, will give Rivers United an advantage in the decisive match. “We tried to see what they were doing and assess their capacity. In Nigeria, it is going to be a different ball game,” Finidi said.
