Veteran Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ to Be Buried Monday in Ilaro

Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried on Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State. He died on Sunday, August 23, aged 66. A lying-in-state ceremony is planned in Ilaro before the burial. The Ilaro Muslim Community said the funeral prayer will hold at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground at 10 a.m. Ogogo had reportedly battled stage-four cancer in the weeks before his death. His daughters had earlier appealed for medical support after disclosing the seriousness of his condition. The actor, filmmaker, producer and screenwriter had a career spanning more than four decades. His death has drawn tributes from colleagues, fans and members of the Yoruba film industry.
