Lagos Warns Schools Against Forcing Parents to Buy Books and Uniforms In-House

The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency has reminded schools that parents should not be unnecessarily forced to buy approved books, uniforms or stationery directly from them. LASCOPA said parents and guardians should be free to buy equivalent approved items from other suppliers where they are available, especially when they cost less. Schools should not reject such items simply because they were purchased elsewhere. As schools prepare to reopen, the agency urged parents to know their consumer rights and report any concerns to the appropriate authorities.
