Sultan of Sokoto Denies Endorsing Tinubu for 2027 Re-election

The Sultan of Sokoto’s media team has denied reports claiming that His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the team described the reports as false and said the Sultan cannot take partisan political positions because he is a father figure to Nigerians of every political, ethnic and religious background. The statement said the Sultan remains available to offer guidance and blessings to politicians who seek his counsel, regardless of party affiliation. It urged the public and journalists to verify information before sharing claims that could drag traditional and religious institutions into political disputes. The media team added that the Sultan remains committed to peace, unity, stability and peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.
