Katsina Launches $1m Climate-Resilience Project for Farmers in Three LGAs
Katsina State has launched a $1 million food-security project to help vulnerable farming communities prepare for recurring floods, drought and other climate-related shocks. The one-year intervention will begin in Bindawa, Bakori and Kafur LGAs. It will restore degraded farmland, improve drainage and water management, rehabilitate solar-powered water systems, and support farmers with climate-smart agriculture training. The project will also rehabilitate 150 food-storage facilities, distribute 500 hermetic storage bags and provide livelihood support for about 300 women. Mercy Corps Nigeria is implementing the initiative with the Katsina State Development Management Board and relevant state ministries.
