Over 3,000 Runners Expected for Great Abeokuta 10km Race

More than 3,000 athletes are expected to compete in this year’s Great Abeokuta 10-Kilometre Race, which will begin at Macjob Grammar School in Onikolobo at 7am and finish at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Kuto. Organisers say the annual event will promote healthy living, tourism, community participation and economic activity in Ogun State. It is also intended to showcase Abeokuta’s cultural heritage and create more opportunities for Nigerian road runners. Five water stations will be positioned along the route at the start point, 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km and the finish line. The organisers say the race will give indigenous athletes more chances to compete and develop their talents.
