Kogi Police Probe Murder of Maiduguri Graduate Awaiting NYSC
The Kogi State Police Command has opened an investigation into the killing of Aminu Lawal in Lokoja. Aminu, a recent University of Maiduguri graduate, disappeared on March 18 while hustling with his Keke NAPEP tricycle. His family raised the alarm when he failed to return home. His charred body was found the next day near the Central Bank in Zone 8. Witnesses reported severe head injuries and a cut to the neck. Community members soon identified a suspect, Garuba, who was among the last to speak with Aminu. Garuba was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on March 25 and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department. An anonymous insider claims there is pressure to free him, a claim the police deny. ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, the police spokesperson, confirmed that a thorough probe is underway. She assured the public that findings will be released once the investigation reaches a logical conclusion.
