Bandit Ambush in Patigi: Five Civilians, Three Soldiers Killed as Women and Children Abducted
A coordinated raid in Mari and Dina villages of Patigi LGA, Kwara State, left at least five residents and three soldiers dead. Heavily armed assailants opened fire on villagers, forcing many to flee into nearby bushes. Witnesses said the bandits operated for over an hour. They shot indiscriminately, abducted several women and children, and dragged them into the forest. Panic spread as families lost track of their loved ones. Reinforcements from the Forward Operational Base responded swiftly but walked into a deadly ambush. In the ensuing clash, three soldiers were killed and a military patrol vehicle was torched. Residents are calling on government and security agencies to boost protection in the area. They fear more attacks if additional patrols and resources are not deployed urgently.
