SEC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Platforms Targeting Dangote Refinery IPO Investors
The Securities and Exchange Commission has warned Nigerians to avoid unauthorised platforms claiming to offer access to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals IPO. The offer opened on September 14, 2026, with 4.1 billion ordinary shares available at ₦525 per share. It is expected to raise about ₦2.15 trillion, making it one of Africa’s largest equity offerings. Investors can subscribe from a minimum of 10 shares valued at ₦5,250. The SEC advised prospective buyers to use only approved investment platforms, designated banks and authorised capital-market operators. The offer is scheduled to close on October 13, 2026, subject to the terms in the prospectus.
