Lagos Court Remands Neighbour Over Alleged Rape of 11-Year-Old Girl

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court on Tuesday remanded a 42-year-old man to Kirikiri Correctional Centre over allegations he raped his neighbour’s 11-year-old daughter. Chief Magistrate Omolara Kushanu did not take the defendant’s plea and ordered the case file sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice. The matter was adjourned to May 27. Prosecutor ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji told the court the offence allegedly took place on March 22 at the man’s home in Ipaja, Lagos. A neighbour reportedly caught him in the act and passersby escorted him to a police station. The charge falls under Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
